Global Strategies for HIV Prevention

Newsletter - February 2009

Global strategies for HIV Prevention welcomes Elizabeth Lincoln, our new Hope Walks Program Director. Elizabeth brings a strong background in education and a vibrant passion for working on projects that directly support children in resource poor countries.

Elizabeth possesses an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education and has worked in a variety of educational settings during the past twelve years. Out of college, she taught elementary school in California for several years, eventually leaving the classroom to work in product marketing at an educational software firm. She has also worked as the Manager of Client Relations for an international teacher professional development program. Most recently, she worked at the University of Notre Dame where she developed strategic planning for the instructional technology team and led the research and development for a philanthropic donation to Ugandan schools in conjunction with the Ford Family Program for Human Development and Solidarity.

Elizabeth will oversee the educational development, fund implementation, and event organization for Hope Walks. Elizabeth is already working closely with Jenny Allen Brooks as part of a transfer plan to become acquainted with Hope Walks and Global Strategies. With a deep compassion for the needs of orphans and vulnerable children, she is highly enthusiastic about her new role and we look forward to the impact that she will have on our ability to fulfill our mission.

Hope Walks is dedicated to meeting the needs of orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV, violence, or displacement in resource poor countries. We educate children and their communities in the U.S. about challenges that orphans face and provide opportunities to raise funds to meet those challenges.

Elizabeth Lincoln can be reached at Elizabeth.Lincoln@HopeWalks.org or (415) 453-2807.

As Elizabeth joins the team, Jenny Allen Brooks’ time with Hope Walks is coming to a close. After fostering the initial development of Hope Walks over the past two and a half years, Jenny will be looking towards graduate school and additional experiences in business and public health to support a career in strengthening nonprofit organizations that focus on global health.

Join us in thanking Jenny for the essential role she has had at Global Strategies as the hands and feet of Hope Walks during its developing stages.
