Nurses using NoviGuide in the neonatal ward at Virunga Hospital in Eastern Congo

NoviGuide has reached a major milestone: over 500,000 care pathways supported across Uganda and Eastern Congo.

Each care pathway represents real-time clinical guidance, supporting doctors, nurses and midwives through the evaluation and treatment of newborns and children in settings where child mortality remains high.

In settings where time and resources are limited, these moments matter.

“NoviGuide doesn’t focus on just one problem. It helps you assess the baby from head to toe… It’s like having a senior consultant always with you.”
- Nurse Sr. Amin Shadia, Adjumani General Hospital, Uganda

What began as a neonatal tool is now expanding rapidly. With the addition of pediatric care pathways, NoviGuide is supporting nurses across a wider range of conditions.  Use is accelerating exponentially.

Nurses use NoviGuide not only in emergencies, but in urgent care where early detection of a mild illness can prevent worsening.  Nurses detect early warning signs and guide consistent treatment decisions.

The milestone also marks a turning point for scale.

“As we expand into pediatric care, growth is accelerating rapidly,” said Dr. Joshua Bress. “Our next goal is 1 million care pathways and we’re quickly building toward a future where that level of impact is sustained year after year.”

How NoviGuide Began - and Where It’s Going

NoviGuide was created by listening to nurses and building a tool around their needs in real clinical settings.

In a recent podcast, Dr. Joshua Bress shares how that experience shaped NoviGuide and why its continued expansion into pediatric care is so important.
